What is Driver CPC?
Under a European Union directive, professional bus coach and lorry drivers need to hold a Driver CPC in addition to the vocational driving licence. Any drivers of Lorries over 3.5 tonnes and minibuses with 9 seats or more must obtain Drivers CPC.
Periodic Training explained
All drivers need to complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years, on a on going basis to keep driving within the law.
Training is delivered though courses made up of modules each course of 7 hours, courses can be split into 3.5 hours but must complete the second part within a 24 hour period ending to comply with government regulations set by Jaupt.
There is no pass or fail to each course, however full attendance is required by candidate to qualify to each course.
Each new five year course will begin from the expiry date shown on the drivers CPC card. And not when the last CPC course was completed.
Drivers of PCV, passenger carrying vehicles formally PSV. Vehicles prior to 10th September 2008 need to complete 35 hours of training to have their driver qualification card ( DQC) issued and received by 9th September 2013.the DQC will be valid until 9th September 2018, drivers of LGV, Large Goods Vehicles formally HGV, vehicles prior to 10th September 2009 need to complete 35 hours of training and have their Drivers Qualification Card (DQC) issued and received by 9th September 2014 the DQC will be valid until 9th September 2019.
The next period of training can start from 10th September 2013 for PCV drivers or 10th September 2014 for LGV drivers but must be completed before the expiry date of their Driver Qualification Card.

All Candidates Attending the courses are required to have a valid driving license (Plastic Photocard and Paper Counterpart)
